Terrace at Delhi
As we progress deeper into the modern world, the sprawling lawns and familial mansions of Delhi are being replaced by builder apartments. Today, terrace gardens serve as the only spot of green area in the homes.
This South Delhi apartment and the terrace garden above, is a gift from the son to his parents. It is a platform for them to enjoy nature- bask in the sun, enjoy rain-washed plants and colourful flowers with parrots and butterflies flitting around. It is their private space where they can exercise at sunrise and nurse a sundowner at dusk.
The terrace is divided into two parts- the front section paved with Cotto tiles, has a bar counter and a service area. The lift lobby opens onto the passage, which connects the two parts of the terrace.
The wooden deck at the back rises up to give way to the lawn. The water from an infinity pool appears to cascade down to the park below. Overlooking this pool is a glass roof pergola which resembles the wings of a bird about to take flight. A water feature with geyser jets and colour changing lights adds to the aesthetic beauty of the lawn.
