Location- Nagrota, Jammu
The objective is to develop a world class institutional campus - a green oasis - where work and social areas blend into the green surroundings, the temperatures are much lower and the environment is conducive to active use of outdoor spaces. The concept focuses on ecological aspects of the landscape as well as creating a safe environment for the students.
The site for iim jammu is a contoured site. The various zones are spread over three levels. Landscape planning for such sites has environmental inputs such as-
I. Focus on ecological aspects of the landscape as well as the aesthetics.
2. Controlling erosion and soil stabilization through planting, plantation of wind breaks etc.
3. Strategically choosing a list of native and naturalized plant material that is suitable for low water conditions, controls soil erosion, adapts well to the climate and terrain of the site to augment green cover and improve air quality.
Landscape planning for institutional areas improves the ambience by providing interactive and user-friendly outdoor spaces that are lively at all times - there by creating a safe environment for students. These areas should be easily accessible, easy to move around, flexible and ever evolving spaces.
Universal access is also ensure throughout by the provision of ramps, material difference in pedestrian pathways and sensory gardens.
